Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of The Room is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. The Room Disciples  are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as assisting with baptisms or children’s ministry, to serving as passionate leaders or various ministries.  There’s always an opportunity for you to put your hands to work at The Room!

Audio/Visual Ministry

Operates and maintains the sound equipment to ensure clarity during the worship experience. This ministry ensures that the Word of God is accurately represented, amplified and recorded through sound reinforcement that is both audible and comfortable to those listening.  This ministry also supports the House by providing video recording for each Worship experience and programming the master displays located in the sanctuary that showcase announcements and other videos that are shared with the congregation.  Those with an interest in sound engineering and/or behind the scenes camera production should consider becoming a part of this ministry.

Children’s Church

In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, The Room holds children’s classes in conjunction with the main Sunday worship experience. This special time gives children more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly children’s church volunteers have an endless stream of creativity, giving children a solid foundation in the Word of God!

In addition to Sunday mornings, children get to participate in their own classes on Wednesday nights during Soul Food Bible Study.  Bible lessons are taught in such a way that every child gets to participate and learn.

The Children’s Ministry can always use volunteers ranging from teachers, teaching assistants, chaperones, room monitors, etc.

Front Line Ministry

Our worship experience doesn’t begin inside the building; it begins in the parking lot.  Each and every Sunday, in the sun, rain, sleet or snow, The Room’s Front Line Ministry has the distinct opportunity to serve our Disciples and guests. To our regular attendees, they are a familiar face and the first to extend a warm, friendly greeting.  To our special guests, they are a very important first impression of our church.

Greeters/Ushers

The greeters and ushers at The Room fill an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life.

Guest Follow-Up Ministry

We have not forgotten what it’s like to be a first-time guest, which is why our guests are treated as VIPs when they attend The Room.  The Guest Follow-Up Ministry honors our first-time guests by contacting them after their Sunday visit with us and thanking them for blessing us with their presence. All guests are family at The Room!  Serving on this ministry is an excellent opportunity for Disciples to replicate the hospitality that was extended to them to someone else!

Media Ministry

Duplicates, distributes and archives recordings of all worship experiences, conferences, workshops, seminars, and special events sponsored solely by or in conjunction with Upper Room Christian Cathedral.

Pastor’s Aide Ministry

Pastor’s Aide supports our Pastor financially and spiritually. By caring for our Pastor’s needs (and his family), this gives him uninterrupted time to spend doing the will of God. By doing this, we show our appreciation for his leadership and spiritual guidance to the church. The Pastor’s Aide also offers encouraging words, prayers, and other actions of love; such as leading in the celebration of the Pastor’s ministerial anniversary, birthday, and other special occasions; as well as extending hospitality to visiting ministers, their families and guests.

Pastoral Appointments

Ministerial Team

Licensed ministers, ordained elders and deacons assist our Pastor in ministering to the various needs of our growing congregation. Staff currently oversees other areas of ministry, including, but not limited to: Ministers-in-Training, Deacons-in-Training, New Disciples Orientation, facilitation of Men’s and Women’s Ministries, New Converts Class, Outreach/Evangelism, communion and baptisms.  Above all, those who lead in these capacities are servant leaders and are a vital part of The Room family!

Accounting Stewards

Appointed by the Pastor, the Accounting Stewards are responsible for oversight of the financial management of ministry funds. They ensure that monies are verified, counted and recorded for the building and advancement of God’s Kingdom. Meticulous bookkeeping and reverential stewardship of tithes, offerings, and sacrificial gifts given unto the Lord are handled here. Reports are accurately completed and forwarded to the church administrator or designee for archive and proper distribution.
